Bullying - Programs and Training
Provides that, in the event that the necessary programs and services such counseling, support services, intervention services, and other programs are not available within a district, the district may apply to the Department of Education for a grant from the Bullying Prevention Fund to support the provision of out-of-district programs and services. Provides that a school district may implement no cost bullying prevention programs and approaches that may be available from the Department of Education, the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, or any other entity. A school district may, at its own discretion, implement bullying prevention programs and approaches which impose a cost on the district. A school district may apply to the Department of Education for a grant to fund programs, approaches, or personnel only after exploring bullying prevention programs and approaches that are available at no cost, and making an affirmative demonstration of that exploration in a grant application. Clarifies that required training on district's harassment, intimidation, or bullying policies can be no cost training provided by the Department of Education, the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, or any other entity. http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2012/Bills/AL12/1_.PDF
