Disaster/Emergency Preparedness
Invest $10 million for the creation of the School Access Safety matching grant initiative which will create a system to provide resources during a school emergency that identifies critical information such as floor plans, locations of hazards and means of access for emergency responders.

Teaching Quality -- Compensation
Raise teacher pay by 2.5% and raise the minimum teacher salary to $30,000, also providing a bonus for teachers who earn National Board Certification.
Economic/Workforce Development
Create SEEDS (Student Educational and Economic Development Success), a public/private partnership to transform struggling schools through the use of well-established business practices, e.g., time management, goal setting and performance measures.
Finance
Direct the School Building Authority to ensure that all funding guidelines are considered equally so student health and safety is given as much weight as economies of scale when making funding decisions.
Economic/Workforce Development
Work with the P-20 Jobs Cabinet to implement the 21st Century Learning Initiative.
Completion
Establish a public outreach program that will emphasize the value of education and the importance of pursuing a college degree.

Create the Governor's Workforce Planning Council to identify the current and future workforce needs to ensure that academic programs are aligned to meet the needs of the workforce.
