Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's State of the State Address

Finance, Finance--State Budgets/Expenditures
-- Will not give the traditional state of the state address because the state is incapacitated until we solve the $42 billion budget deficit. California is in a state of emergency and faces insolvency within weeks. Addressing this emergency is the first and most important thing that we must do.
-- Will talk about my vision for education and send a package of legislative goals and proposals to the legislature as soon as the work on the budget is completed.
-- Encourage the legislature to continue working to resolve the budget crisis.
-- Propose that the legislators and the Governor lose per diem expenses and paychecks for every day that the budget goes past the constitutional deadline which is June 15th.
