PreKindergarten-Third Grade: A New Beginning for American Education - This film provides information on the South Shore School, a public PreK-8 school in southeast Seattle. The school serves students who are 50% African American, 30% Asian, 13% white and 7% Latino; and 56% of the students receive free or reduced price lunches. The film shows how by starting earlier, addressing each student's learning strengths and challenges, engaging families and fostering social and emotional development along with academics, the school gets strong results for all children.
