Document Number: 10468 Assessing the Impact of Tennessee's Pre-Kindergarten Program: Final Report - This report, commissioned by the Tennessee Office of the Comptroller, investigates the short- and long-term effects of state funded Pre-Kindergarten participation on academic outcomes. The analysis, performed by Strategic Research Group, indicates that on standardized assessments in Kindergarten, Pre-K students—particularly those who experience economic disadvantage—perform better than students who did not participate in Pre-K. The analyses of long-term effects (Grades 3-5) did not find significant differences in academic performance between Pre-K participants and those who did not attend Pre-K.
