WWC Review of the Report "Summer School Effects in a Randomized Field Trial" - Moderate-risk kindergarten and first-grade students participated in a summer reading program, tested in the spring before the program began and again in the fall. A comparison group did not receive the intervention. The study found and WWC confirmed a statistically significant positive effect of the summer school for both kindergartners and first-graders.
