Document Number: 10736 PIRLS 2011 International Results in Reading - PIRLS, an international assessment of reading comprehension in the fourth grade, has been conducted every five years since 2001. For PIRLS 2011, 45 countries assessed fourth-graders; some participated in other options to permit wider participation.
