Getting the Best People into the Toughest Jobs: Changes in Talent Management in Education - Strategic talent management in education -- managing teacher recruitment, selection, placement, development, evaluation, tenure, promotion, dismissal and compensation -- is a relatively recent phenomenon, according to the author. The overarching principle behind all the activity in education reform is that talent truly matters. He recommends entry into the profession be made difficult at every juncture and that three to five years into teaching, the neophyte be given a test, not unlike a bar exam, to qualify for full licensure.
