How Effective Is Correctional Education? The Results of a Meta-Analysis, A Research Brief - A meta-analysis indicates inmates who participated in prison education programs had a 43% lower chance of recidivating than those who didnít. High-quality studies yielded that figure, but when studies of a lower quality were added in, the results remained the same. The brief, which also found education may improve chances of postrelease employment, concluded correctional education can be cost-effective compared with the costs of reincarceration.
