Rethinking Faculty Evaluation: AERA Report and Recommendations on Evaluating Education Research, Scholarship, and Teaching in Postsecondary Education - Given the dramatic changes in higher education, a research association has released guidelines for rethinking how colleges and universities evaluate research, scholarship and teaching for tenure-line faculty. To evaluate teaching, authors recommend the following: focus on student learning outcomes. To evaluate scholarship, go beyond a single-authored article to include multi-authored work. Finally, faculty communicate results of their peer-reviewed scholarship in a variety of ways: policy reports, op-eds and media interviews, social media, and blogs.
