Measuring Deeper Learning Through Cognitively Demanding Test Items: Results from the Analysis of Six National and International Exams - Anticipating that the Common Core State Standards may increase assessment of deeper learning, researchers looked at six national and international tests which were generally more cognitively demanding than state achievement tests. Their findings will serve as a benchmark to compare the cognitive demands of new Common Core tests under development by the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium and the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers.
