UC and the SAT: Predictive Validity and Differential Impact of the SAT I and SAT II at the University of California - In the wake of President Richard Atkinson’s proposal that the University of California (UC) system drop the SAT I requirement for admission comes this report on the difference between the SAT I and SAT II. Based on records of 78,000 first-time freshmen over the last four years, the study reports that SAT II achievement tests are a better predictor of freshman grades than the SAT I reasoning test for UC students. UC currently requires freshman applicants to submit both the SAT I and SAT II scores for admission. (Saul Geiser and Roger Studley, University of California, October 29, 2001)...
