Document Number: 3284 An Agenda for Research on Educational Testing - This board sets forth a research agenda designed to inform accountability systems by establishing the best uses of tests in different areas. The agenda lists five main priorities: (1) monitoring the effects of state-level tests, particularly promotion and exit exams, (2) designing state systems for accountability that meet technical requirements, as well as addressing public policy concerns; (3) understanding the role of tests in standards-based reform, particularly in terms of how they relate to educator motivation and action, as well as how they relate to student dropout rates; (4) understanding how standardized tests are used in college admissions; and (5) understanding the link between technology and testing.
