Retaining Principals - This digest explores reasons, other than retirement, that school principals leave their jobs and offers strategies districts can employ to retain them. Some suggestions include: (1) job sharing, where two principals divide tasks between them according to their skill area; (2) an increased level of professional development; (3) financial support for sabbaticals; (4) a family friendly environment and (4) redesigning the organizational structure of the job.
