A Benefit-Cost Analysis of the Abecedarian Early Childhood Intervention - Children who receive high-quality preschool care and education will make roughly $143,000 more over their lifetimes than other children, and save the school districts they attend $11,000 each by reducing the need for remedial education. This analysis of the Abecedarian Early Childhood Intervention project in North Carolina also found that the benefits of the program outweighed the costs by four dollars for every dollar spent.
