Are Schools Facing a Shortage of Qualified Administrators? - The present document suggests that the current cries of a national shortage of school administrators are unfounded. Administrators are not abandoning their posts, either for positions serving fewer disadvantaged students or for other job sectors altogether. Nonetheless, the researchers identify concerns, such as the potentially high principal retirement rate in the coming years, which should be addressed to ensure a pool of quality administrators in the future.
