Document Number: 4834 Survey of the States: Economic and Personal Finance Education in Our Nation's Schools in 2002 - The third in a series of biennial surveys, this report indicates which states (1) have standards that include economics or personal finance; (2) require economics or personal finance standards to be implemented; (3) require schools to offer an economics or personal finance course; (4) require students to complete an economics or personal finance course; and (5) administer mandatory assessments in economics or personal finance. According to the survey results, as of fall 2002, coursework in economics was a graduation requirement in 14 states and coursework in personal finance was required in four states.
