The Missing Middle: Aligning Education and the Knowledge Economy - According to this report, economic and demographic changes are going to increase the need to align curricula with work requirements and to create stronger relationships between high schools and colleges, communities and employers. The authors argue that strengthening the relationship between education and work requirements begins with a stronger focus on the "missing middle" in education policy: the years when academic and applied learning overlap between the completion of basic academic preparation and the completion of occupational or professional training.
