Document Number: 5216 Committee on Research in Education (CORE) - In response to recent federal trends for evidence-based education policy and the improvement of education research, the National Research Council’s Center for Education developed the report, Scientific Research in Education to articulate the nature of scientific education research and set the foundation for future efforts in this area. The Center for Education has recruited an expert committee to build on this work. The Committee on Research in Education (CORE) will guide and oversee the design and implementation of a workshop series that will take specific aspects of education research and expand upon them. The goals of CORE include advancing an improved understanding of a "scientific" approach to addressing educational problems; engaging the field of education research in action-oriented dialogue about how to further the accumulation of scientific knowledge; and coordinating with, supporting and promoting cross-fertilization among NRC efforts in education research....
