State-level School Health Policies and Practices: A State-by-state Summary from the School Health Policies and Programs Study 2000 - Generally referred to as “SHPPS 2000,” this report is the most comprehensive study of school health policies ever conducted in the United States. Included are tables indicating: the states that require instruction in suicide prevention at the elementary, middle and high school levels (Tables 1.4 - 1.6); states that offer monies for or professional development on suicide prevention for health education teachers (Table 1.12), school nurses (Table 3.16) or mental health or social services staff (Table 4.8); and states that require districts or schools to offer suicide prevention services (Table 3.3).
