AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) - This college-preparatory program for underserved students is offered at more than 2,200 schools in 36 states, with almost 55% of these schools in California. Ninety-five percent of AVID students enroll in college, with 77% enrolling in four-year institutions – compared to 35% nationally – and 17% in community colleges. AVID students are enrolled in their school’s toughest classes, such as Advanced Placement, and receive support in an academic elective class called AVID and taught within the school day by a trained AVID teacher. ...
