Autism: Challenges Relating to Secondary Transition - This document describes the efforts of several state education agencies (SEAs) to address the needs of transition-aged students with autism, as well as the major barriers to providing effective secondary transition services to this population, and provides policy recommendations. The author found that the SEAs appear to be doing very little that specifically focus on secondary transition for students with autism, but there are some individual state efforts, including the Illinois Autism Training and Technical Assistance Project, the Minnesota Autism Network and, in Rhode Island, autism training workshops.
