Document Number: 5777 Letter from the U.S. Department of Education to Illinois Officials Regarding Supplemental Services - The U.S. Department of Education asked the Illinois State Board of Education to investigate and take the steps necessary to ensure the Chicago School District is properly implementing the Supplement Educational Services (SES) provisions of No Child Left Behind. The department noted that Chicago is functioning as an SES provider even though it has been identified by the state for improvement, an arrangement that is prohibited under the federal law.
