Document Number: 5913 New on the Shelf: Teens in the Library - The Wallace Foundation launched the Public Libraries as Partners in Youth Development (PLPYD) in 1999 to support the development of models of public library systems that would provide high-quality educational enrichment and career development programs for underserved low-income teenagers and children. This paper summarizes the findings of a four-year evaluation of the PLPYD initiative, and discusses the potential benefits for teens, libraries and communities.
