Examples of State Initiatives - Texas High School Project An Early College High School Initiative was created in Texas through a partnership between The Communities Foundation of Texas, The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at San Antonio, East Central Independent School District (ISD), Southside ISD and Southwest ISD. The initiative focuses on creating a more personalized high school environment and targets students who may lack the academic foundation needed to meet high school standards, students who are ranked outside of the top 10% of their 8th-grade class; students for whom the cost of college is a hardship, students who are traditionally underserved and underrepresented and young people who must balance school, work and family obligations. California Early College High School - The California Department of Education partners with the Chancellor's Office for the California Community Colleges to support the Early College High School Initiative of the Foundation for California Community Colleges.
