Arkansas Statewide Educational Facilities Assessment – 2004 - In 2002, the Arkansas Supreme Court ruled that public school educational facilities in the state were inadequate, unequal and in violation of the state’s constitution, and directed the governor and General Assembly to correct the defects. The Task Force to Joint Committee on Educational Facilities was created to fulfill eight mandates, which included recommending a system or method to assess, evaluate and monitor school facilities across the state, and establishing a process to conduct a review and assessment of all school facilities. This document is the final report of the Task Force and serves as a good resource for state policymakers struggling with facilities issues.
