State Involvement in School Restructuring Under No Child Left Behind in the 2004-05 School Year

PDF - No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requires that if a school does not make adequate yearly progress (AYP) for five consecutive years, its district must create a plan to restructure the school and implement the plan on the sixth year of not making AYP. This brief examines how 13 states have been involved in the planning and implementation of school restructuring, and how their experience can serve others states in understanding how the restructuring process works and how it may evolve in the future.
