Document Number: 7340 Keeping New Teachers: A First Look at the Influences of Induction in the Chicago Public Schools - The state of Illinois is combating a nearly 40% attrition rate for new teachers within the first five years on the job. While this is a problem not unique to Illinois, this study offers a first look at the induction programs and their success in Chicago Public Schools using a survey from 2005. The results show a positive correlation between certain kinds of induction programs and reducing teacher attrition. (Kavita Kapadia, Vanessa Coca and John Q.
