A Good Teacher in Every Classroom: Preparing the Highly Qualified Teachers Our Children Deserve - The same problems that face teacher education affect all professional education. The curriculum for teacher education should be shaped both by what teachers need to learn and by how they learn. This means, first of all, that the content should be organized so that teachers gain a mental map of what is involved in effective teaching and what factors influence student learning. The domains outlined in this report provide the elements of such a map and create a foundation on which teachers can continue to build. With this schema for their work and learning, teachers can seek out and add knowledge about specific techniques throughout their careers.
