Document Number: 7689 Mass Shootings at Virginia Tech - On April 16, 2007, a Virginia Tech student murdered 32 and injured 17 students and faculty in two related incidents. Three days later, Virginia Governor Tim Kaine commissioned a panel of experts to conduct an independent, thorough and objective review of the tragedy and to make recommendations regarding improvements to the Commonwealth’s laws, policies, procedures, systems and institutions, as well as those of other governmental entities and private providers.
