Document Number: 7715 High Schools for Equity - At a time when the achievement gap in California is large and appears unchanging, some high schools are beating the odds. This paper documents the practices and outcomes of five urban high schools in California that do an extraordinary job of preparing their students for success in higher education, productive careers and a fulfilling life. The schools -- both district run and charters -- serve populations that are predominantly low-income students of color in California’s largest cities.
