Document Number: 7875 Creating Change One Step at a Time: Efforts to Improve College Access and Success in Indiana - In just 12 years, Indiana went from 34th to 10th in the nation in percentage of high school graduates who enrolled in college the fall following high school graduation. This report details how they did it, an evolutionary process that involved establishing a statewide student information system, imposing a mandatory, more rigorous high school curriculum, working to expand postsecondary affordability, investing in a community college system and focusing on college students’ success, including addressing the special needs of at-risk student populations.
