Missouri Job Vacancy Survey—Mathematics, Engineering, Technology, Science Occupations - The Missouri Job Vacancy survey provides yearly information about the quantity and quality of job vacancies in the state, along with an analysis of wages and benefits offered, education and experience requirements, and skill gaps of recent applicants. The data relating to occupations in METS (mathematics, engineering, technology and science) reveal that 81% of single-discipline METS vacancies were in engineering or computer science and almost half of respondent employers had some or great difficulty in filling those jobs. Not only is the survey a tool for job seekers, but its proponents claim it is a tremendous layoff aversion tool as well. (Missouri Department of Economic Development, July 2008)...
