Document Number: 7914 Equity and Excellence in American Education - To achieve equity in education, the federal government should invest in research-based strategies that would support students at every level. Developing and improving such strategies are especially important for educating special-needs students, English language learners, and high school dropouts. Further, the federal government should support development of statewide information systems that yield data for policymaking and for international comparisons, but also are able to track individual students longitudinally.
