Document Number: 8532 Urban School Superintendents: Characteristics, Tenure and Salary--Sixth Survey and Report - This report contains results of a survey of urban superintendents conducted in the spring and summer of 2008 to determine the characteristics of urban school superintendents in the United States. The data indicate that the average tenure of a major city school superintendent is now 3.5 years, up from 2 and 3/4 years in 2004.
