Document Number: 8539 Special Report on the Transfer Admission Process - In November 2006, the National Association for College Admission Counseling distributed its annual Admission Trends Survey to over 2,200 four-year, not-for-profit, degree-granting, Title IV-participating institutions of postsecondary education in the United States and outlying areas. Of the respondents, 72% were private and 28% were public. One of the revealing results was that the average acceptance rate for transfer applicants was slightly lower than the rate for first-year students and private colleges had somewhat lower acceptance rates for transfer students.
