Document Number: 8604 Revenues and Expenditures for Public Elementary and Secondary Education: School Year 2007-08 - Approximately $584.7 billion was collected in revenues for public elementary and secondary education in the 50 states and the District of Columbia in fiscal year 2008. The greatest percentage of revenues (92%) came from state and local government. This report presents data for public elementary and secondary schools on: (1) revenues; (2) current expenditures; (3) salaries and benefits for teachers, classroom supplies and extracurricular activities; (4) current expenditures for instruction and other indicators.
