Doing Better for Children - This report compared 30 of the world's richest nations on six indicators of child well-being: maternal wellbeing, housing and environment, educational wellbeing, health and safety, risk behaviors and quality of school life. It found that the U.S. ranks no higher than 12th in any category and as low as 25th (educational wellbeing). It also found that the U.S. was particularly weak in health and safety (e.g., low birth weight, infant mortality, etc.). (OECD, September 2009)...
