The APPLES Blossom: Abbott Preschool Program Longitudinal Effects Study Preliminary Results Through 2nd Grade - The National Institute for Early Education Research’s (NIEER) multi-year evaluation of state pre-k in New Jersey shows that children attended high-quality pre-k retained an advantage through second grade in math, comprehension and vocabulary skills. According to the study, when compared to children who had no pre-k experience, participants with one year of early education were about 30 percent less likely to be retained and those with two years were 50 percent less likely.
