The State of State Science Standards - This report provides analyses for the K-12 science standards in place in all 50 States and the District of Columbia. The average grade across all states is a C and in twenty-seven jurisdictions, the standards earn a D or below. The authors suggest that states can up their standards by looking to high scoring states and the NAEP but must also consider the other factors that contribute to strong academic achievement. State Content Standards - This Web site provides users with information on each state's content standards. The site provides the name of the standards, subjects covered and the year of adoption. ...

The State of State Standards - This report examines the quality of state academic standards since 2000, prior to passage of NCLB. Subject areas reviewed are U.S. history, English/language arts, mathematics, science and world history. The report finds that 37 states have updated or revised their state standards in at least one subject during that period, but still finds the standards "as mediocre as ever," with the average grade for state standards remaining a C-. The report finds that two-thirds of the nation’s K-12 students attend schools in states with C-, D-, or F-rated standards. (Chester E. Finn, Jr., Michael J. Petrilli and Liam Julian, the Thomas B.
