Expanding Opportunities: A College Choice Report for the Graduating Class of 2014, Part I: Preferences and Prospects - A look at the ACT-tested graduating class of 2014 is a two-parter: this, the first, provides 10-year trends and a profile of the current graduating class. Among the findings: more high school students than ever are taking the ACT, students are taking the ACT earlier in high school, more students withhold their test scores during ACT registration and additional score reports are rising. Condition of College & Career Readiness 2014 National - For the 10th straight year, the number of students who took the ACT reached new records. While it's disappointing that scores remained flat, the good news is that many high school graduates were close to college readiness levels - 15 percent were within two points of the science benchmark, for example. Earlier identification of academic deficiencies might elevate scores. Data show encouraging growth in the eight states that administer the ACT to all students. (ACT, August 2014)...
