Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance - United States - 2013 - Results from the 2013 national YRBS indicated many high school students engage in health-risk behaviors associated with leading causes of death in persons 10 to 24. During the 12 months before the survey, 14.8 percent had been electronically bullied, 19.6 percent had been bullied on school property and eight percent had attempted suicide. Since the earliest years of data collection, most health-risk behaviors have decreased (fighting, current smoking, current sexual activity). On the increase are skipping school because of safety concerns, obesity, and overweight.
