Principal Compensation: More Research Needed on a Promising Reform - Before principal compensation can move forward, we need to better understand how principal compensation affects the quality and performance of the nation’s principals. This report recommends four key steps to further our understanding of principal compensation and how it should be reformed: (1) More detailed data on principal compensation must be collected; (2) Greater experimentation needs to occur with principal compensation structures to see the consequences of different approaches; (3) Development of detailed and sensible principal pay reform designs; and (4) Inflex of new money for principal pay initiatives.
