Questions to consider when creating or modifying charter school laws - The first charter school law surfaced in Minnesota in 1991, and since then, 42 additional states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico have passed laws governing charter schools. Yet still today, the details within those state laws vary significantly and seven states do not have a law at all. An Analysis of the Charter School Facility Landscape in California - Golden State charters were asked to complete a survey about their facilities and to allow on-site measurement; these results were then supplemented by data on school enrollment, student demographics, and funding. Idaho Public Charter School Commission 2014 Annual Report - More than half of charters authorized by the Idaho Public Charter School Commission are among the top performing public school options in their communities. Measuring Up to the Model: A Ranking of State Charter School Laws - Minnesota remained at the top of an annual list of states ranked by flexibility in charter school laws; Maryland remained last. Illinois State Charter School Funding Task Force Report - The idea that every student receive an equal base amount of funding that would follow the child regardless if he's enrolled at a district or charter school is among recommendations to the legislature by an Illinois charter school funding task force. Student Achievement in Florida's Charter Schools: A Comparison of the Performance of Charter School Students with Traditional Public School Students - Charter schools offer parents and policymakers a viable option for improving education in Florida, says a report produced by the Florida Department of Education.
