CollegeMeasures.org - This site provides key outcome measures for 1,576 four-year public and private colleges in the U.S. The website makes it simple to strategically evaluate the performance of colleges and state systems in order to identify areas for further analysis and focus. The website reviews seven key outcomes measures: graduation rates, first-year retention rates, education-related cost per student, cost per degree, student loan default rates and the ratio of student loan payments to earnings for recent graduates. (American Institutes for Research, 2011)...

Crossing the Starting Line: An Examination of Productivity at Indiana's Public Colleges and Universities - The report, commissioned by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, found the state's public colleges and universities are performing relatively well given the resources available to them, but every institution has room for improvement. (National Center for Higher Education Management Systems, October 2010)...

Vision Project: A Public Agenda for Higher Education in Massachusetts - The goal of the Vision Project is to show that public higher education can act in a unified and focused way to ensure the future well-being of the state and that the higher education officials in the state are ready to hold themselves accountable for results to the people. This will be pursued in three ways: (1) Highlighting the work of the campuses on a limited number of educational and research outcomes; (2) An annual reporting of Massachusetts standing among the 50 states; and (3) Organizing work to ensure a targeted and sustained effort. (Massachusetts Board of Higher Education, May 2010)...

Ready to Assemble: Grading State Higher Education Accountability Systems - In 2008 and 2009, Education Sector conducted a comprehensive analysis of higher education accountability systems, analyzed thousands of documents, policies and laws to answer two question: 1) What information do states collect on their higher education institutions? 2) How do they use that information to affect institutional improvement. Based on the research they graded accountability systems in 21 categories on a three-level scale. (Chad Aldeman and Kevin Carey, Education Sector, June 2009)...

Ready to Assemble: A Model State Higher Education Accountability System - In 2008, Education Sector conducted a comprehensive analysis of state higher education accountability systems in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. For each state they worked to answer two questions: 1) What kind of information does the state gather about its colleges and students? 2) How does the state use the information it gathers to make colleges and students more successful? The report describes the current state of the art in higher education accountability and ends with a set of guidelines for designing a model system. (Kevin Carey and Chad Aldeman, Education Sector, December 2008)...

California Higher Education Accountability - The California postsecondary Education Commission has released this report concerning the trends in enrollment in the University of California and California State University. The enrollment trends show that part-time enrollment has been decreasing. The impact of this decrease has a potential impact on gender and racial groups, and part-time students themselves due to increased costs.
