Bringing the Institution into Focus: Annual Results 2014 - How the average student experiences a campus can vary considerably from one institution to the next, even among institutions that are similar with regard to enrollment and admissions selectivity. Featuring answers from more than 355,000 students attending 622 U.S. colleges and universities, this annual survey found institutions with lower selectivity can offer student-faculty interactions at least comparable to those at more selective institutions. Minorities and the Recession-Era College Enrollment Boom - This report shows freshmen enrollment of Hispanics at postsecondary institutions grew by 15% from 2007 to 2008. In the same period, freshmen enrollment for blacks increased by 8%, by 6% for Asians and 3% for whites. The minority postsecondary students tend to be concentrated in community colleges and trade schools more than four-year institutions. Educational Crisis Facing Young Men of Color: Reflections on Four Days of Dialogue on the Educational Challenges of Minority Males - This startling report details something we cannot ignore. It is clear that American males are not completing high school or college at acceptable rates. Something is going on in American communities and classrooms at both educational levels to produce these disparities--common across all racial and ethnic categories. This report calls attention to the current circumstances but also provides a hopeful perspective on how the nation might make real progress in addressing the underlying issues.
