Quality in Early Childhood Care and Education Settings: A Compendium of Measures - This compendium from Child Trends provides an overview of instruments that assess the quality of early childhood education settings. It includes fact sheets for more than 30 measures with key information such as cost and the time needed to administer each. A number of charts also allow the reader to make comparisons among the measures based on the ages of children and program settings they are designed for, the primary purpose of the instrument (e.g., monitoring vs. evaluation), the intended user, and the data collection methods (e.g., observation, interview, survey)....

Dictionary of Statewide Evaluation Indicators - This publication provides a menu of indicators that help states develop a comprehensive overview of the status of young children and their families in a community. These indicators include measures of child health, family functioning, early care and education, and social-emotional development. In addition, the report also offers indicators that help measure the performance of the early childhood system itself. These indicators examine the accessibility of services, service delivery, cultural competence, coordination and integration of services, accountability, and financial sustainability.
