U.S. Department of Education Supplemental Services - The U.S. Department of Education has added a new section on supplemental educational services to its Web site. As part of the No Child Left Behind legislation, when a disadvantaged child is attending a low-performing school, federal funds can be used to provide "supplemental services" for that child extra help provided to students in reading, language arts and math. This extra help can be provided before or after school, on weekends....

The National Association for Developmental Education (NADE) - NADE seeks to improve the theory and practice of developmental education, the professional capabilities of developmental educators and the design of programs to prepare developmental educators. The organization is a nonprofit, nonpartisan education association composed of nearly 3,000 members from across the United States and a growing number of educators from around the world. This site provides links to state chapters, publications and other resources on the Web....

The National Center for Developmental Education (NCDE) - The center seeks to improve the quality of practice in the field of developmental education. It also provides instruction and training, research and services to a statewide and national audience of professionals who work with underprepared college students. The Web site provides links to the Journal of Developmental Education, Research in Developmental Education (RiDE), new research conducted by the center and noted articles in the field....

The New York College Learning Skills Association - This is a state chapter of the National Association for Developmental Education formed by 25 educators after the first symposium on remedial/developmental education was held in New York in 1978. The association's goal is to create a forum to exchange ideas, methods and expertise, as well as advance standards for learning skills professionals. The Web site has information on the association's newsletter, published four to five times annually, on the annual conference, and a link to the Research and Teaching in Developmental Education Journal (RTDE), including back issues....
