2015 Oregon Educator Equity Report - Oregon has addressed the gap between percentages of diverse students and diverse teachers with some success. As of July 2015, the state was six individuals short of being on track to meet the 2015 goal of increasing the percentage of diverse teachers by 10 percent as compared to July 2012, and it met the goal of increasing the percentage of diverse administrators. However, the 2012-13 data show enrollment of diverse candidates in teacher preparation programs decreased. Next steps and recommendations follow. Cheating Our Future: How Decades of Disinvestment by States Jeopardizes Equal Educational Opportunity - Colorado, Mississippi, Pennsylvania and South Carolina provide compelling evidence of unfair school funding, even for students within the same state. (Vermont Education Agency, June 2015)...

This document uses draft equity plans from Missouri, New York and Tennessee to demonstrate several approaches to the development of state equity plans. It recommends consultation and input, identification of equity gaps, root-cause analyses, strategies and measuring and reporting progress. (Reform Support Network, February 2015) ...

Access Denied: 2009 API Rankings Reveal Unequal Access to California's Best Schools - California's 2009 Bae Annual Performance Index (API) data and statewide rankings reveal that race and class continue to play a substantial role in shaping educational opportunity, and that systemic inequity is pervasive in California's schools. State leaders must take action to close these gaps and ensure all students have access to a high-quality education. (Education Trust-West, June 2010)...
