Health Care Costs Account for Nearly 10% of School District Budgets, Almost $900 Per Student, Survey Reveals - This press release reports findings from a July 2005 survey of Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International members on the rising cost of health care. Respondents listed rising health-care costs as their biggest concern, 94% either agreed or strongly agreed that the cost of providing health care to their district employees was rising faster than district revenues and 68% either agreed or strongly agreed that the rising costs have negatively affected the ability of their district to provide academic services to students.
